NUMBER 5

Prisoners to get varsity level courses

After read the newspaper excerpt dated 3 March, 2013 taken from News Strait Times. I would like to give my response towards "Prisoners to get varsity-level courses" column.
I do believe what The Prisoners Department do is a good thing to be done as they implementing several measures to enhance the skills and educational level of prisoners in order to increase their competency after serving their sentence.
This might be helpful and give lots of benefit to them.
When they are going out from the jail, at least they have 'something' or ability to show and use them to find a job.
This also could be a chance for them as having a proper education; they might do otherwise in their action. With a certain qualification, job opportunities might be open for them.
Everybody change and as a human being, we should help and give them their support.

NUMBER 4

Hollywood produces great movie, but they don’t always tell the truth even it is based on ‘true stories’. There thousands or even billions movie that Hollywood has produced. This is because they maybe want to protect one's dignity.

Hollywood is one of the biggest movie industry the world has ever known, Hollywood producers has made great movies from fiction to stories that are based on true events, but some of the movies that are created which are based on True Stories or Events that have occurred are not always 100% the true, in some of the movies created in Hollywood some of the events and characters did even occur neither exist because some producer likes to makes certain adjustment to the original story to catch audience attention.

For example in the award winning movie Braveheart which tells the story of an old Scottish hero William Wallace that fights for freedom and independence for his people.
That movie was criticized by many because the movie did not quite tell the truth as the real events that went down in William Wallace’s story. So in my opinion movies that are based on true stories or true event should not be too criticized or taken too seriously for not telling the whole truth of the story, because at the end of the day it is just a movie which has been acted out.
I believe that it is the given rights for Hollywood producers to have the full authority to change or adjust a few bits of the story so that it would catch more audience attention and have a more interesting twist to it.

NUMBER 3

Stereotyping
A stereotype is a thought that may be adopted about specific types of individuals or certain ways of doing things, but that belief may or may not accurately reflect reality.

What do I think?
If you’ve ever been the victim of a stereotype, which is a good probability, you know that they can cause you to do unnecessary things. They could make you lash out in rage or even confront that person face to face.

The chances are that if you stereotype someone more than once and mean it that could push them to do something irrational. America was built on the whole idea of “freedom” and “freedom of religion”. Yet, no one really accepts that and there is still segregation everywhere, whether it’s religious or ethnicity wise.

Most people are affected by stereotypes and really don’t know it. There is really no person in this whole world that isn’t affected by stereotypes. Because of stereotypes, we don’t have quality of life. And without quality of life we can’t enjoy life. This is one of the main reasons people do not get along with each other and why people are separated by what they look like or by ethnic background. If we abolish all stereotypes we will finally be able to enjoy life without hate and without conflict. So, I ask you, can we do it?

NUMBER 2

Number 2
Perception towards Househusbands
Although the sight of a father at the school gates is far from becoming the norm, more and more are playing an active role in their children’s upbringing. Some of these are men who have been unwillingly thrust into the role of primary carer after being made redundant, whilst their wives adjust to being the breadwinner of the family. However, for many who make up this army of ‘hands-on dads’, this is a positive lifestyle decision.
The extension of maternity leave is also a factor, with women who are unwilling to leave their babies after three months changing their minds after a year of sleepless nights and midnight feeds! Due in part to these trends, it is now becoming more socially acceptable for a father to take on the lion’s share of household and childcare duties, while women take the opportunity to return to work.
What is my opinion and perception?
Having a househusband might seem fashionable, but it is important to look at the vital statistics before taking the leap. Evidence suggests that the divorce rate is rising disproportionately in these cases, which strongly suggest that there is something about the arrangement which just doesn’t quite work. There are a number of factors which need to be considered:
-You might earn more money than him, but will your partner feel emasculated becoming a dependant rather than the provider for the household? Is this going to lead to resentment of your career further down the line?
-He might not have a problem becoming a full-time dad, but for some there is still a social stigma attached to the role. Exclusion from tight-knit support networks such as mothers’ coffee mornings could lead to a lonely and isolating experience of fatherhood.
-Whilst we have moved on from the traditional gender roles of alpha male and domesticated female, some women still want to feel protected and provided for by their man. It is important to think about whether you could lose respect for your partner if he gave up his job in favour of household chores, and whether you might resent the fact that he is not ‘pulling his weight’ in the relationship.
-Finally, do you trust your man to be a househusband? Many women actually find it very difficult to relinquish control of household arrangements to their men. Problems can easily arise and even lead to relationship breakdown if men feel unappreciated or constantly criticised by their absent wives for not performing tasks ‘up to standard’. In addition to this, women may feel resentful they have effectively taken on two full-time jobs, juggling a demanding career and having to bring up children too, since their partner is not doing the job
properly.

NUMBER 1

Critical Literacy.
Perception is the first thing that I have learned in this subject and my perception is. .? BAD PERCEPTION as the word for this subject is CRITICAL as I had heard many seniors that already take this subject said that it is hard to score for this subject.
Good advice and fantastic support from them towards my question.
Soon, after we were taking our long semester break, it’s time to move on to the next semester.
My mind was wondering what will happen when I first looked at the course content. It clearly stated there, I’m going to seat for this killer subject in this semester. I know I’ve should be prepared mentally and physically for this subject and if not, I will be blown up.

There is no doubt that everybody are talking about the difficulties of this subject.
I am trying to give my best and always be positive so I can focus better on this subject. Since this is a core subject, I really hope I can do well in Critical Literacy subject especially for the assignments because it can be more difficult than I could imagine.
Plus, this subject doesn’t have final exam which is make more challenging. At first, I might find it difficult but I believed by putting in some effort and hard work everything is going to run smoothly.
